Concepts

Core concepts:

  • UMID: the manifest @id (issuer-minted; v0.1 recommends urn:uuid:<uuidv4>)
  • TTL: issuedAt/expiresAt define freshness for use
  • Unknown-field tolerance: consumers must ignore unknown fields safely
  • Shards: small composable sections used for projections
  • Pointers: references to canonical data that lives elsewhere

These exist to avoid overbuilding and to keep adoption possible across multiple ecosystems.
